Ottawa - March 2004

It's Spring at last, and Bear Claw Bob made another pilgrimage to that little Blues Heaven on the Rideau River. Yes, it's the Nation's Capital we're talking about. Thanks to his blues buddies Peter Pelletier and Bernie Desjardins, on Saturday night BCB got to sit in with them and the rest of The Bayou Project, Cliff, Richard and Bruce, at (you guessed it) the Bayou Blues & Jazz Club.

On Sunday afternoon Peter and Bernie took Bob a bit further up Bank Street to the Royal Oak to meet and hear Guy del Villano and his sharp little quartet, which includes Mike Ktenas on bass. No sooner were they  inside the door when they ran into the irrepressible Mary Gray, blues singer extraordinaire and co-composer of the Bear Claw Soundclick hit "This Place Is Fine"  . Like so many of North Bay's musical family, Mary now lives and sings her blues in Ottawa.

After he and his band played a fine set, Guy del Villano invited the North Bay contingent to take the stage for a few tunes. Bob was thrilled to be playing again with Peter, Bernie and Mary. The following photos convey the story. Click on the small picture to see the full-size version.
